Approach

Science and Compassion

Psychodynamic counselling focuses on understanding how experiences, such as a difficult childhood, concerns about career choices or identity issues, influence your present life.

A psychodynamic counsellor will listen and help you reflect on how you respond to various life events. They will also explore your relationships with yourself and others.

Developing an accepting and trusting relationship with your therapist encourages you to talk freely, openly and honestly - without being judged.

The therapist doesn't impose direct advice or dictate your actions during these sessions. Instead, they empower you by guiding you to understand your thoughts and behaviours. This process of self-reflection is a powerful tool, enabling you to uncover the root causes of your emotional difficulties. It's about you taking control and realising your own capabilities.

Experiencing emotional difficulties is a common human experience, and seeking support from family and friends is a natural response. However, there are times when this support is insufficient, and the need for professional help becomes apparent. Psychodynamic counselling offers a deeper exploration of emotional issues to provide long-lasting relief and personal growth.

Remember, you are not alone in seeking professional help. It is a step towards understanding and healing.
